CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION (Police Officer and Firefighter/EMT) – The Civil Service Commission of the Borough of Waynesboro will be holding examinations for the positions of Police Officer and Firefighter/EMT as follows:
- The physical fitness portion of the examinations will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
- The written portion of the examinations will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
- The oral portion of the examinations is to be determined upon receipt of the written test results.

MAINTENANCE POSITION (Driver/Operator-Laborer) – The Borough of Waynesboro is currently accepting applications for a Driver/Operator-Laborer with the Borough’s Maintenance Department. Job Description —
- Perform various laboring and equipment operating duties as assigned or directed, involving grading, sweeping, truck driving and related duties.
- As assigned, operate hi-lift, backhoe, street sweeper, dump trucks and other vehicles to haul soil and sock, grade surfaces, remove snow, clean streets and related duties.
- Work as hand-laborer or general laborer in various areas to pave, excavate, lay pipe and perform various duties. Perform maintenance-type of bricklaying and concrete work. Also, operate motorized hand equipment and similar equipment, and other hand tools as would relate to construction and maintenance jobs.
- Detect and report any unusual conditions or equipment operation to supervisor, and perform all duties in a satisfactory manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or directed within the scope of responsibility.
- Individuals working under the job classification of this job description must possess and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with a Class B designation.
