Mayor Dade Royer

I am honored to serve you as the new Mayor of Waynesboro. I began my four-year term on January 5, 2026.
A major responsibility of a Borough Mayor is to oversee the Police Department. I take this challenge very seriously. I have a two-pronged approach to public safety. I believe in strict law enforcement, especially the distribution of illegal drugs. I will also be an advocate for drug prevention programs in schools and within the community. In addition to law enforcement, I believe it’s very important for the Police Department to build strong relationships within the community. One example of this is National Night Out, which we hold every August. This is an opportunity for the community to engage with emergency services and other municipal agencies.
One of the challenges of the Waynesboro Police Department, and most departments across the County, is a shortage of police officers. We are especially looking for men and women from the local area to fill these positions. We believe local people know and care about our community, our culture, and will be more committed to their job because they live in the area. If you or someone you know may be interested in one of these positions, please stop by the Borough Office for an application and to learn about basic requirements.
I am always eager to hear from members of our community. Please feel free to contact me by email at DadeRoyer@waynesboropa.gov
